Etude House: Dear Girls Oil Control Pact

13 Oct

Average online retail: $10
Store retail: 8,500 ($8)

This doesn’t help as much as I thought it would. It’s a good way to set makeup. It gives a nice, soft finish. However, it’s no match for my oily skin. I look shiny in about an hour. I don’t usually reapply it because I don’t want to make the powder dirty with bacteria.

I usually need to use oil sheets to soak up the shine afterward.

This has cute packaging. It comes with a nice pad to apply it. Although I bought a new pad so I could have a clean one. There’s also a pretty design etched into the powder pact. All of this is superficial though.

It does give a nice finish and helps set makeup.

You only need a light layer.

It doesn’t look cakey, feel thick or give a white cast (as long as you use a light amount).

I give this 3.5/5 stars.

The Face Shop: Color Control (CC) Cream (02 Natural Beige)

13 Oct

Average retail online: $20.00

Store retail: ₩24,900 ($23) I don’t know why the in-store price is cheaper. Be careful about authentic products.
This is the Aura Color Control Cream.  “Face It CC Cream is a color-controlling cream that brightens your complexion.”
This is the first CC cream that I’ve used. My skin is oily and prone to breaking out, so I thought I’d see if this CC cream was a better fit for me. CC cream is targeted to help people with covering up redness and help prevent break outs, more so than the average BB cream.

I would wear this to work, where I am moving around and get hot easily, and here are my thoughts:

The oil control isn’t great. I would look very shiny and oily after a few hours.

The color is a little too yellow for me, although it may fit others better. It did blend to my skin OK though.

Can you tell which side has the CC cream?
The left side is with the CC cream. The right side is without any makeup.

This covers up the redness well, but not necessarily any better than other BB creams.
before after
It didn’t break me out. I still had a few occasional break-out episodes though.

I really like the packaging–I haven’t seen anything personally like it. It looks like a powder pact, but there’s a small hole in the middle on the inside. You push a button and the product comes out. It’s easy to control the amount. It’s also very hygienic.
It also comes with an applicator pad, which I never used. But it feels nice and is a cute hot pink color.

Light beige shade (above): Lioele Triple the Solution BB Cream
Yellow beige shade (lower): The Face Shop CC Cream

Here is a comparison of this and a Lioele BB cream I reviewed.

I give this 2.5/5 stars.

I bought this and used all the product. This shows that it was a fine product, however, I’ve used better BB creams. I wouldn’t necessarily buy it again.

Dr. Jart: Detox Healing Blemish Base — BB Black Label

1 Apr

Average retail online: $30-34
Store retail: around ₩34,000 ($32.10)

I decided to buy this BB cream because the woman at the store said it was good for oily skin!

The back of the tube.

Here’s a swatch of the Detox Healing Blemish Base.

This BB cream is thick. It comes out like toothpaste.

I don’t like the packaging. It makes it easy to control how much product to get out, but it isn’t very hygienic. You squirt some product onto your hand or whatever, and then some of the product that touches you goes back into the tube. It’s not a big deal, I suppose. Just wash your hands good before using it!

This is the tube I’m not too fond of. But at least you don’t need to rely on a pump working!

Not the best coverage. I’d say it’s just a hair less than the Missha Perfect Cover B.B. Cream.

I think I have more of a combination skin, but more on the oily side. Sometimes I feel like this cream makes my face look a little dry.

Because the product is so thick, a little goes a long way. I only need to put a little on my finger, and then I can blend it out a lot.

It also provides enough converge to help even out my skin tone. Just touch up with some concealer if you want.

This BB cream works fine for my oily skin.

Me without the Detox Healing Blemish Base.

Me with the Detox Healing Blemish Base. You can see it evens out my skin a lot and takes some redness away.

I give this three out of five stars.
