Maybelline: Color Sensational Lipstain (05, in the buff)

26 Apr

This looks just like a marker! This was the lightest pink shade–according to the color of the marker tube. At first I didn’t like this product at all, simply because the shade was redder than I originally wanted, but I now love how the color looks! It makes my lips just red enough to still look natural.

Cons
It can be difficult to put on. The color doesn’t apply very well–it seems like the “ink” has a hard time coming out. It reminds me of when you write on a certain type of paper, and the pen stops working and you need to shake it or scribble on something else to get it to work again.

Pros
One thing about this lip tint is it really looks like you have nothing on. It doesn’t make your lips shiny or moisturized at all. I think that’s why I can get away with this red-ish color but not with red lipstick or lipgloss.

I also like lip tints/stains in general because they don’t rub off on coffee mugs, cups or anything else your lips touch! They tend to, yes, stain your lips and stay on nicely for a while. ^^

You definitely can’t put any kind of product on your lips first since it makes it so the ink won’t come out. I will put the lip tint on first, and then I apply lip balm on top.

Me without anything on my lips!

Me with Maybelline's Color Sensational Lipstain, in "in the buff." I look serious ^^

I give this three out of five stars.

Revlon: Super Lustrious Lipstick (matte 001, nude attitude)

26 Apr

I was so happy when I saw this on the shelf! I had been searching for a nude lip shade for a while.

Cons
One feature about this lipstick is that it tends to show lines in your lips. However, it is definitely not as bad as the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream. I wish is was just a tad more moisturizing, but just apply some lip balm first. I doubt any matte lip stick is too moisturizing.

Me without anything on my lips.

Me with only the Revlon matte lipstick, in "nude attitude".

Pros
The staying power is OK. I’ve never had a lip product stay on too well, except for some lip stains/tints.

This lipstick makes a good lip concealer/base. I like to apply it, and then apply my lipgloss on top. Check out my picture — my lipgloss looks milky-peach with it over the nude lipstick.

Me with Revlon matte lipstick, in "nude attitude," underneath VOV Castledew Oversetting Lipgloss. It helps bring out the lipgloss colors, giving it a milky look.

I give this three out of five stars.

Dr. Jart: Detox Healing Blemish Base — BB Black Label

1 Apr

Average retail online: $30-34
Store retail: around ₩34,000 ($32.10)

I decided to buy this BB cream because the woman at the store said it was good for oily skin!

The back of the tube.

Here’s a swatch of the Detox Healing Blemish Base.

Cons
This BB cream is thick. It comes out like toothpaste.

I don’t like the packaging. It makes it easy to control how much product to get out, but it isn’t very hygienic. You squirt some product onto your hand or whatever, and then some of the product that touches you goes back into the tube. It’s not a big deal, I suppose. Just wash your hands good before using it!

This is the tube I’m not too fond of. But at least you don’t need to rely on a pump working!

Not the best coverage. I’d say it’s just a hair less than the Missha Perfect Cover B.B. Cream.

I think I have more of a combination skin, but more on the oily side. Sometimes I feel like this cream makes my face look a little dry.

Pros
Because the product is so thick, a little goes a long way. I only need to put a little on my finger, and then I can blend it out a lot.

It also provides enough converge to help even out my skin tone. Just touch up with some concealer if you want.

This BB cream works fine for my oily skin.

Me without the Detox Healing Blemish Base.

Me with the Detox Healing Blemish Base. You can see it evens out my skin a lot and takes some redness away.

I give this three out of five stars.

Lioele: Jewel Mix Marble Skin Finish

1 Apr

Average retail online: $26
Store retail: ₩18,000 ($17)

This is the first highlighter I bought, and I loved the packaging and mix of golden colors.

A swatch of the Lioele Jewel Mix Marble Skin Finish on my finger. I like applying this with my fingers instead of a brush.

Here is the brush it comes with in it’s own compartment!

Cons
Sometimes it’s just too much shimmer for me. It’s really shimmery. But, you just need to be careful. I don’t like the brush it comes with too much. I just don’t like using the flat rounded brushes to apply blush and what not.

That’s right! The right side has the Marble Skin Finish, and the left side doesn’t.

Can you tell which photo below I have the highlighter on? See the answer at the bottom of the post.

Picture 1. ??? On or off? See answer at bottom of post!

Picture 2. ??? On or off? See answer at bottom of post!

Pros
This really brightens up your face and looks nice in photos! It applies smoothly and feels soft. I like all the bronze and golden colors because it helps blend into your skin.

It comes with an applicator that’s underneath the powder. I used it at first, but I actually like to use two fingers now. I put some up my nose, my cheeks and right above my nose. The packaging is really cute as well — it looks princess-y.

It even smells nice. The powder has a flowery-baby-powder smell.

I had the Marble Skin Finish on in photo 1!

I give this four out of five stars.
